The story behind this year’s Hux + Mū Holiday Edit
This year’s hero offering began with a quiet rediscovery.
While clearing my family home after my father passed away, I came across a stack of hand–block–printed cottons that I’d collected over the years. Some had been bought by my late mother during her winter visits to Gujarat; others I had chosen myself on my own travels. Many came from a small local government weaving cooperative where traditional textile skills continue to be supported.
The fabrics stopped me in my tracks... Their colours were still vibrant, their prints and weave beautifully imperfect. I realised I had been saving them for something special, though I wasn’t sure what that was.
I had recently taken up sewing again, and slowly the idea formed... to create something useful and beautiful, something that could hold a small ritual of care.
A bag for skincare or make-up essentials, something portable yet personal, stitched slowly and with intention.
Each pouch in this year’s Holiday Edit is made from these fabrics, sewn by me, each one unique. Every piece carries a trace of where it came from: in every fold, a memory; in every stitch, a quiet act of restoration.
Every pouch is different, but they all share the same purpose: to hold care. They are pieces created slowly and thoughtfully from materials that deserve to be seen and cherished.
